Description
Brief history – Intercontinental Arms / ARMI JAGER “Dakota”
The Dakota revolver is a reproduction of the famous Colt Single Action Army 1873 “Peacemaker”. The first examples were made in Italy by Armi Jager from 1962 onwards and imported into the USA by Intercontinental Arms of Los Angeles. The Dakota is regarded as one of the first Italian-made “Peacemakers” for the American market. sackpeterson.com
From around 1969, some of the revolvers were also made by Hämmerli in Switzerland. After Intercontinental Arms ceased trading around 1975, the Dakota name was continued by other importers and manufacturers, including EMF, Armi San Marco and, later, Uberti. The exact maker is identified from the Italian proof marks, the “Made in Italy” inscription and/or the Swiss Hämmerli marking. sackpeterson.com
The model is a single action revolver with a 6-round cylinder and traditional Western styling, found mainly in .357 Magnum and .45 Colt, with various barrel lengths.
