Description
The revolver pictured is a Smith & Wesson Model 66-2 Combat Magnum, one of the most highly regarded classic variants of the 66 series. This example is configured with a short 2.5” stainless steel barrel and premium aftermarket laminated grips.
The Model 66 was introduced in 1970 as the stainless version of the famous Model 19 “Combat Magnum”, built on the K-Frame and originally intended for American police forces. It quickly became extremely popular thanks to its excellent balance of size, weight and the power of the .357 Magnum calibre.
The 66-2 variant was produced from approximately 1982 to 1986 and marks an important stage in the model's evolution.
The example offered here is in very good condition, with a well-preserved satin stainless finish, mechanically little used, and fitted with high-quality modern laminated grips. The short 2.5” barrel is one of the most sought-after configurations for the 66 series, especially in Europe.
Market valuation: for the current European market, 1,200 – 1,600 € for a very good, working, original example;
