Description
The revolver pictured is a Smith & Wesson Model 66-3 Combat Magnum, one of the most highly regarded classic variants of the 66 series. This example is configured with a short 2.5” stainless barrel and premium aftermarket laminated grips.
The Model 66 was introduced in 1970 as the stainless-steel version of the famous Model 19 “Combat Magnum”, built on the K-Frame and originally intended for American police. It quickly became extremely popular thanks to its excellent balance of size, weight and the power of the .357 Magnum cartridge.
The 66-2 variant was produced approximately between 1982 and 1986 and marks an important stage in the model’s evolution.
The example shown here is in very good condition, with a well-preserved satin stainless finish, mechanically little used, and fitted with cocobolo wood grips, which add to its collector value. The short 2.5” barrel is one of the most sought-after configurations for the 66 series, especially in Europe.
Market valuation: for the current European market, 1,200 – 1,600 € for a very good, functional and original example;
