Description
The pistol pictured is a Polish-made Tokarev TT-33, very probably produced at FB Radom (Fabryka Broni Radom), known in collector circles as the “Polonez” or “Polish TT”, made approximately between 1947 and 1959. Polish TTs are considered among the best-finished TT variants of the Warsaw Pact. The “RO-C-TT” marking indicates sale on the Romanian civilian market. The Tokarev TT-33 was designed by Fedor Tokarev in the early 1930s for the Red Army as a replacement for the Nagant M1895 revolver. The TT33 uses the 7.62×25 Tokarev calibre, is mechanically derived from a simplified Browning/Colt 1911 system, and became one of the most widespread firearms of the Eastern Bloc.
The example pictured is in very good condition: even finish, clean edges, no evident oxidation; it retains the classic TT lines, has grips correct for the post-war Eastern European style and an overall appearance above the market average.
