Description

The revolver pictured is an Uberti replica of the famous Colt Navy Model 1851, one of the most elegant and widespread black-powder revolvers of the 19th century. The Colt 1851 Navy was designed by Samuel Colt between 1847 and 1850 and became one of the most famous percussion (“cap & ball”) revolvers in history. It was chambered in .36 calibre and offered an excellent balance of power, accuracy and portability.
This example is a premium version:
– blued finish,
– colour case-hardened frame,
– brass trigger guard and grip frame,
– engraved cylinder,
– classic “Navy” configuration.
The model was used in the American Civil War, on the Western Frontier, by the Texas Rangers, and by military officers and famous civilians such as Wild Bill Hickok. Classic features: .36 calibre, 6 shots, single action, loaded with black powder and percussion caps,
cylinder engraved with the naval scene of the Battle of Campeche.
The example pictured has been very well maintained, with its original finish preserved, little use, a discreet authentic patina, clean wooden grips and clearly visible cylinder engraving. The octagonal barrel and colour case-hardened frame are exactly the classic combination most sought after in Navy models.
Market valuation (2025)
For an Uberti Colt Navy black powder in very good condition: 500 – 750 € for standard models; 750 – 1,000 € for excellent condition, premium finishes, crisp engraving and flawless mechanics.
