VEKTOR Z88, Cal. 9×19

The Vektor Z88 pistol, manufactured in South Africa by Lyttelton Engineering Works/Vektor, a company later integrated into the Denel group. The model was developed from 1986 onwards, against the backdrop of the international embargo on South Africa, when importing arms had become difficult. Its design reproduces the Italian Beretta 92F pistol very faithfully, including the short-recoil action, the open-top slide and the pivoting locking block. The first deliveries to the South African Police were made in 1988, and the army adopted it from 1989. The name “Z88” comes from the engineer T. D. Zeederberg and the year it entered production, 1988. The Z88 is chambered in 9×19 mm Parabellum, operates double action/single action, has an ambidextrous safety with hammer decocking and uses a standard 15-round magazine.

The pistol shown is in very good to excellent condition:

the black finish is well preserved;

• the original Vektor grips are present and well preserved;

• the slide edges show no pronounced wear;

• the magazine base plate and lanyard ring are present.
